Privacy Policy
This policy covers the PixLaundry apps for iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows, and this website.
1. What the apps handle, and why
Original photos and videos (including metadata such as location)
Sent from the sending device to the receiving device so they arrive without any loss of quality. To keep location metadata intact, the Android app asks for permission to read media location. They go only to devices you paired yourself on your network.
File names, sizes, capture times, IDs and SHA-256 hashes
Kept in the receiver’s history and the sender’s library list, so files that were already sent aren’t sent again and each file can be checked for integrity. Shared only between paired devices for that comparison.
Device names, pairing tokens and last-contact times
Used so devices can find each other on your Wi-Fi and so a receiver accepts only paired senders. The receiver stores only a hash of each token.
Settings
Starting point, automatic sync, cleanup mode and the free-plan daily count stay on each device.
Diagnostic log
A small file inside the app (up to about 512 KB) with file names, sizes, transfer steps and errors — no photo contents, PINs or tokens. It leaves your device only if you share it yourself from “Contact & report”, to an app you choose. The app never sends it automatically.
2. Every external connection the apps make
- Between devices on your local network. Discovery (Bonjour/mDNS) and transfers (HTTP) stay inside your network and don’t go through the internet. Pairing tokens make sure only your devices are accepted, but transfers are not encrypted, so we don’t recommend using PixLaundry on public Wi-Fi.
- Purchases. Pro is bought and restored through the Apple App Store or Google Play. They handle payment details; the app only checks whether Pro is active.
- Update check (Android, only when installed outside Google Play). The app asks GitHub’s public releases page whether a new version exists. Like any web request, GitHub may receive your IP address. Copies installed from Google Play don’t do this.
- Opening Google Photos (Android). A button or notification can open the Google Photos app. Any cloud backup is done by Google Photos under your own account settings; PixLaundry isn’t involved and never signs in to Google.
The Mac and Windows apps only receive on your local network and save to the folder you pick; they make no other connections. None of the apps contain advertising, analytics or crash-reporting tools.
3. When you contact us or sign up for the beta
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach (for example a diagnostic log you chose to share). We use it only to answer you and fix the problem, and delete it without delay once the issue is resolved, and within one year at the latest. If you sign up for the beta, we keep your email address and the devices you told us about only to send the invite and talk about the beta, and delete them when the beta ends. If you join the Android beta through a Google Group, Google manages that membership under its own policy. You can ask us at any time to show or delete what we hold, at support@example.com.
4. This website
This site is static and hosted on Vercel, which processes standard request data (such as IP address and browser type) in server logs to deliver and protect the pages. The site sets no cookies and shows no ads. To see which pages and links bring visitors, it uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies: it records the page, the referring site, country, browser, operating system and device type, recognises a visit only through a temporary value discarded after 24 hours, and doesn’t identify you or follow you across other sites. Links to app stores and other sites are covered by those sites’ policies.
5. Retention and deletion
- Everything above stays on your devices and is deleted when you delete the app.
- Unpairing a device stops its token from being accepted.
- Received photos are saved to your gallery or chosen folder, and you decide when to delete them. If you turn on Pro “Auto” cleanup on an Android receiver, the app deletes received files older than 7 days, oldest first, only when the receiver runs low on storage; it explains this before you turn it on.
6. Sharing and processors
We don’t share or sell any information, and we use no processors for app data. Support emails stay with us and our email provider. Payments follow Apple’s and Google’s privacy policies.
7. Permissions
Photo library (read and save), local network, notifications, and on Android: media location, start after reboot, and a foreground service for connected devices. You can turn any of them off in your device settings; only the related feature stops.
8. Children
PixLaundry isn’t directed at any particular age and doesn’t collect children’s information.
9. Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and its effective date and mention it in app updates. Questions: support@example.com.
